Artwork, ratings and API keys

Understand where posters and descriptions come from and when personal keys are useful.

Before you start

Options depend on your plan, profile, installed build and provider. Understand access. Screenshots use fictional demonstration data; a preview layout can differ slightly from a public build.

#Metadata is not a stream

TMDB supplies artwork and plots; OMDb can supply IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes/Metacritic information; TVmaze supplies episode data. MDBList can supplement matches/ratings. These services describe a title; none provides a playable IPTV stream merely because a poster appears.

#Use defaults or your own key

Open Settings → Services & connections → API Keys for metadata services. SubDL/SubSource have their key rows in Playback & audio → Subtitles.

  1. Choose the service you actually need to configure.
  2. Enter a valid key issued by that service and Save.
  3. Use the built-in/default-key action in the dialog when offered to return to the app’s configured default.
  4. For MDBList, enable the separate MDBList option if you want its supplementary metadata.
Keep in mind

Never paste secret keys into chat, screenshots or a public bug report. External quotas and service availability still apply.

API Keys settings: optional personal service access. No actual API key is included in this demonstration. Actual app screen · fictional demonstration content, not included with M3ufy. Layout may vary by version and device.

#Incorrect or missing artwork

Try the app’s intended metadata language, check the title/year and inspect the source’s naming. Titles with extra provider tags or several remakes can match incorrectly. A missing translation keeps the original title. Do not rename every channel to fix a movie-metadata problem.
