Pause and rewind Live TV
Choose temporary recording, keep a pause, or use provider catch-up.
Options depend on your plan, profile, installed build and provider. Understand access. Screenshots use fictional demonstration data; a preview layout can differ slightly from a public build.
#Choose what pausing means
Open Settings → Library & content → Recordings → Pausing live TV. Record it uses a temporary local recording; Record and keep preserves it; Provider’s catch-up relies on an archive-capable stream; Off disables this pause mechanism.
- Choose the pause mode suitable for your source.
- Set How much to keep to limit the pause recording.
- For a suitable removable drive, enable Pause on the recordings drive.
- Open a channel, pause briefly, then resume and check seeking.
A network share is not suitable for the record-and-read-at-once pause-drive option. Use local/removable storage. Pausing can consume storage and an additional provider connection.
#Return to live
While delayed, seeking forward only reaches the data already recorded or available in the archive. To watch the live edge, return to live playback using the player controls or reopen the channel. The pause buffer is not a permanent archive unless you chose to keep it.
#If pause fails
Check free storage, drive write permissions and the channel’s archive support for the selected mode. Connection-limit warnings protect other playback/recordings; do not increase the reported connection count unless your provider actually permits more connections.
